MINSK, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Belarus on Thursday called on the United States not to leave the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

The intention of the United States to withdraw from this treaty cannot but cause regret and concern, Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz said at a press briefing in Minsk.

Such a step would cause significant harm to both regional security and global strategic stability, the official said.

He said all of the issues surrounding the INF Treaty need to be solved at the negotiating table through dialogue.

"We regard this document as one of the most important elements of the modern architecture of international security, which has contributed to and is helping today to reduce tensions on the European continent," he said.
