DHAKA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Scores of passengers were injured when nine compartments of a train derailed in Bangladesh's Bogra district, some 197 km northwest of Dhaka, on Wednesday.
Abu Jar Gaffar, the residential medical officer at a regional hospital, said that a total of 60 passengers injured in the accident had received treatment, and 20 of them were admitted.
He said that seven of the admitted patients had suffered fractures, while three were in a critical condition.
The accident is believed to have been caused by a misunderstanding of signals. And a four-member investigation committee has been formed to look into the incident.
According to officials, the train derailment halted the railway communications from Dhaka to other parts of the country for hours. ■
