BRUSSELS, May 31 (Xinhua) -- The Eurozone unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent in April from 8.6 percent in March, the lowest rate since December 2008, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), said on Thursday.
Data showed that there are totally 13.88 million persons were unemployed in the euro area in April, down by 56,000 compared with the previous month.
Among the member states, the lowest unemployment rates in April were recorded in the Czech Republic, Malta and Germany. The highest unemployment rates were observed in Greece and Spain.
In the wider EU, the jobless rate was 7.1 percent, stable compared with the previous month and down from 7.8 percent in 2017.
