MAIMANA, Afghanistan, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Taliban outfit's attempts to overrun Khawja Sabzposh and Shirin Tagab districts in Afghanistan's northern Faryab province have been repulsed and the militant group fled leaving three bodies behind, Abdul Karim Yurush, the spokesman of provincial police said Saturday.
According to the official, Taliban militants launched offensives to take control of Khawja Sabzposh and Shirin Tagab districts for a couple of days, but the government forces' counter-offensive forced the militants to flee after targeting them from ground and the air.
Yurush also said the government forces, in addition to evicting militants from several villages, have launched house to house search to ensure lasting peace in the restive districts.
Taliban militants are yet to make comment.
